Pilates is a method of movement founded by Joseph Pilates (1883-1967). It’s designed to uniformly strengthen every muscle in the body, mobilize every joint, benefit every organ, and clarify the mind. Thus, we become more aware and in touch with our bodies, our breath, and our selves!
Pilates is a method of movement you can take with you outside of a session. In all offerings there is an open dialogue in an effort to help you achieve autonomy in your practice and better harmony with your body. Pilates can be your primary form of movement or a piece of your movement formula.
As your instructor, my goal is first and foremost to create a safe space for all. All are welcome. I may be the Pilates expert, but you are the expert on your body. I strive to teach you the “why” behind your exercises, give you autonomy to take your Pilates practice with you beyond the session, and find a balance between challenging yourself and caring for yourself. The dialogue is always open. So ask questions, express your concerns, share your victories as much as you like.
My Training: PMA Certified, My comprehensive certification includes mat, reformer, tower, chair, ladder barrel, trigger point (foam rolling), functional movement, TRX, and more…
When we are filled with the inner strength that comes with self-compassion and embodying our inherent beauty, we can show up more fully in all areas of our lives. Our bodies are inherently good. Intuitive self-care must involve getting attuned to the body, mind, and soul. Health is not determined by weight and no body is perfect. One can have self-compassion and a healthy body image, and still want to change things about their body…and remember, “every body is a Pilates body”.
The HAES® principles are at the core of this pilates space. These principles help us advance social justice, create an inclusive and respectful community, and support people of all sizes in finding compassionate ways to take care of themselves.
Private 1-on-1 Sessions are available at various venues in Manhattan as well as online. Group Classes are offered as often as possible.
